Many municipal sewage treatment plants become inefficient because their digesters and lagoons become filled with sludge. Mechanical means of removal and dewatering have proven to be expensive projects. Geotube® containers are now being used as containers into which sludge can be pumped directly from digesters and lagoons.

The fabric that makes up the Geotube® engineered textile allows sludge to be dewatered efficiently while containing the solids. The effluent is usually clear and safe enough to be returned to the plant.

This technology greatly reduces the volume of sludge and the cost of disposal while allowing continual operation of the digester and lagoons.
