Underwater Construction Corporation’s Houston Response Operations Center has been instrumental in supporting commercial construction diving and underwater inspection operations throughout the Gulf Coast, Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Arkansas regions since July 2017.
Our Houston Response Operations Center continues UCC’s 53-plus year reputation of setting the standard in safety and innovation for commercial and nuclear diving services.
UCC and its staff of over 200 divers, supervisors and project managers are the largest inland commercial diving services company in the United States. Services they perform include power plant underwater cooling water intake/discharge structure maintenance. They’re also experts at underwater concrete placement, fabric form mats, zebra mussel remediation, carbon wrap / coating, pile jacketing and underwater hydroelectric dam maintenance services.
Underwater Construction Corporation’s commercial dive and marine infrastructure teams develop cost-effective solutions for a client’s underwater construction and maintenance projects. Proven safety plans act in harmony with the client’s health and safety policy metrics. UCC meets project budgets and schedules, and executes every job, no matter the size, with the professionalism customers have grown to expect from UCC.
UCC’s Houston Response Operations Center has a 2,200 square-foot equipment warehouse and 800 square-foot office area that provides easy access to the Port of Houston. Due to our rapid growth, UCC Houston will be moving to a larger operations center by 2023.
The UCC Houston Dive Team recently performed a challenging repair to a concrete panel wall in the cooling water canal of a major chemical manufacturing plant in Louisiana.
To permit the plant to remain on line, UCC designed, engineered, and installed a temporary diverter wall, which controlled the flow of water for diver safety. This permitted UCC to safely complete the demolition and removal of the existing 40-foot by 12-foot concrete panel. UCC installed new rebar splicing ties into the adjacent panels, designed and installed the new concrete panel forms, and placed the high-strength, 4,500 psi concrete.
The UCC dive team completed this entire task in 60 days without any impact to the plant’s operations.
The Houston Response Operations Center is led by Brandon Wheeler, a graduate of Divers Institute of Technology, who has been with UCC since 2001 and the Southwest Operations Manager since 2018.
One of our clients says this about Brandon:
“Professionalism at its best. I worked with Brandon extensively at the Chickamauga Lock Expansion in Chattanooga, TN and the IHNC Sector Gate in New Orleans, LA. Great Divers! He knows how to shake a leg and get things done!”
